I don’t know about you, but sitting outside on a warm, sunny day after work is one of my favorite ways to relax. I’ve been keeping an eye out for small side tables that would work for my outdoor space—tall enough they could sit beside a chair, but not so tall they’d be awkward to reach for a glass of iced tea on.
Last weekend, the Goodwill store in Nora delivered. I walked in to find this perfect vintage typewriter table – the right size, a metal material, and great little flaps that can be put up to make it larger! Other than a few cobwebs and some rickety wheels, it was in wonderful condition. The price – $9.99. I mean really, can you get any more perfect?!
For any true hipsters out there who will be deeply disturbed by my spray painting of this table… you should probably stop reading right about now. . .
For the rest of us, let’s brighten this old table up with a vibrant yellow and bright blue. Initially, I thought I’d make a design on the top – do a full yellow stripe across the flaps and center part and have it frame the table on all sides. I taped it all off and got to it.
Legs done.
Top done
Then I took off the top and thought about the stripe-to-be.
I couldn’t decide. So I covered the top back up and took off the edge tape so I could make the yellow frame.
Whoa. A bit much. I mean, for a kids room, it would be perfect. For my outdoor space… a little too loud.
No worries, right? It’s spray paint. I took care of that. . .
And while I was at it, I determined glitter spray would be a good touch for the top. Because when is glitter spray not a good idea?
And there you have it. Toned down, but still bright, and pretty darn perfect for an outdoor area.
And of course, the “action shot.” “Tables in action.” That should definitely be a Pinterest board. . .
